Mark

A highlighted phrase as a lit strip behind the words: the amber lamp turned low, for search hits and the one thing a sentence must not lose.

A lit strip

Three runs matched: refund batch, refund retry and refund audit. A stopped run writes nothing more, so nothing needs undoing.

Three runs matched: refund batch…

A mark element is announced as highlighted where screen readers support it; the words around it should still make sense without the light. In forced colours it takes the system's own highlight.

Rules

 • Amber only: it is a lamp, and a mark is attention, not state.
 • A few words at most. A marked paragraph is a paragraph nobody reads.

The full law

colour-and-lamps.mdIn the brain

This page is a summary in plain words. The brain holds the law itself, written for an agent to follow.

The full law, with the foundations they rest on and the anti-patterns that break them. Full rules ship in the brain with the Pass.
